York is a lovely city with a brilliant university. The architecture is old and quaint and has a lovely feel about it. Is a good mixture of old and new. Quite a studenty and touristy city with good selection of shops, cafes, resturants, bars and clubs. Has river running thorugh it with bars and cafes that look out over and a great park in middle for spending summer afternoons.

gets very busy in summer from tourists
